Archaeological Feasibility Study Specialist
Maximum budget: £9,200 (inclusive of VAT, travel and expenses)
Terms: Freelance contract
The Wilson Art Gallery and Museum, in partnership with Corinium Museum, Museum of Gloucester, Dean Heritage Centre, Museum in the Park, Gloucestershire County Council and Tewkesbury Museum has been awarded funding from Museum Development South West to undertake an archaeological storage feasibility study.
We are looking for appropriately qualified specialists to undertake an options appraisal on behalf of Gloucestershire Museums to provide an evidence base for various options available to the museums of Gloucestershire in managing archaeological archives going forward.
They will have a track record of carrying out options appraisals and in producing useful and readable appraisal reports. They will be familiar with museum archaeology policy, have knowledge of the work of commercial archaeological contractors and archiving requirements of the UK planning system. They will be able to work effectively and in a creative way with the project team and partners, supporting stakeholder-led research and plan and deliver collaborative workshops.
The Wilson is committed to building an organisation of mutual respect and dignity, promoting a welcoming, diverse and inclusive working and learning environment. We recognise that everyone is different in a variety of visible and non-visible ways, and that those differences are to be recognised, respected, and valued. We aim to provide a place where everyone can thrive, supporting all staff to achieve their full potential. We aspire to remove economic, social and cultural barriers that may otherwise prevent people from succeeding.
We therefore welcome and encourage applications from all communities regardless of culture, background, age, disability, sex, gender identity, ethnicity, religion/belief, or sexual orientation. This grant was awarded by Museum Development South West, with thanks to support from Arts Council England.
